A Historic Summer Escape
The island of Iso Vasikkasaari has a long maritime heritage, with fishing settlements dating back to the late 1700s. In 1878, banker and municipal councillor Abel Landén purchased the island. Back then, the archipelago was a haven for summer retreats, where grand villas welcomed families and their attendants. Gula Villan still holds the echoes of those sunlit, carefree summers.
In the 1980s, when Gula Villan first opened as a summer restaurant, it quickly became a popular destination for boaters, offering a private pier and a welcoming seaside atmosphere.
The idyllic island Villa has long been cherished for its combination of classic cuisine and the island’s natural beauty; from beaches and walking trails to boating and outdoor activities. Over the decades, it has remained a beloved summer escape, celebrated for its maritime charm, vibrant summer life, and idyllic setting.
